Rush of devotees at Trimbakeshwar on fourth Shravan Somvar
Nashik: A surge of Shiva devotees was seen in Trimbakeshwar on the final Monday of the Shravan month, with the police estimating the congregation at 2.5 lakh devotees from Sunday evening to Monday evening. Considering the large congregation of devotees on the third Shravan Somvar, which touched 4.5 lakh last Monday, many devotees have now visiting Trimbakeshwar on the fourth Shravan Somvar. The police maintained a strict bandobast, as PI Pritam Chaudhary of the Trimbakeshwar police station said, that a force of over 1,100 was maintained across the town and on the 20km route around the Brahmagiri mountain.

PI Chaudhary also said that there was no untoward incident during the fourth Shravan Somvar in Trimbakeshwar. The Brahmagiri pradakshina, which involves walking around the Brahmagiri mountain, a trek of nearly 20km, drew a massive crowd. The crowd mirrored the turnout on the third Monday, notably with higher participation by women. The circumambulation route was crowded from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon, as devotees gathered at the Kushavart Kund for a holy dip from Sunday midnight. With the final Shravan Mond coinciding with Ekadashi , stalls offering ‘sabudana khichdi’ and ‘sabudana vada’ were set up across the town. Download the TOI App.
Pilgrims started arriving in the town on Sunday. The gathering of devotees on the fourth Shravan Somvar was the second largest after the third Shravan Somvar, and by 6pm on Monday, the devotees were on their return journey.
