Gran Turismo 7 is getting 12 new cars and two tracks with free Spec IV update
Gran Turismo 7 is getting a free update to mark 30 years of the racing series. The December update will also bring six more cars, taking the total added through Spec IV to 12. That was just the start of the December update. Gran Turismo 7 will also receive Family mode, which is designed for players of all ages and skill levels. The first update will additionally include a new Spec IV opening cinematic. Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the original Gran Turismo, which launched in 1997. Spec IV is being released as part of the celebrations, with further details expected later. More information about the update will be revealed during Round 3 of the Gran Turismo World Series in Singapore on October 3. For now, the two-part update adds new tracks, 12 cars, and several new ways to play as the series approaches its 30th anniversary.
Other additions include new race modes, car-related features and an updated version of Gran Turismo Sophy. The first part of Spec IV, arriving in October, will add Sportsland SUGO, a Japanese circuit known for its elevation changes and technical layout.
Called “Spec IV,” the update will arrive in two parts, with the first coming in October and the second in December 2026. The update will add two circuits and 12 cars, along with a new Family mode aimed at players of different ages and skill levels. With the latest update, the game will get new tracks, cars, modes, and other features. Six new cars will also be added at the same time. In December, the update will add Autumn Ring, a circuit familiar to longtime Gran Turismo players. Alongside its original layout, the track will include a new expanded configuration. The mode is intended to make the racing game more accessible to children and beginners while retaining options for experienced players. December will also introduce Shuffle Race, which randomly selects cars for races, and Online Drift Trial, which lets players compete in drifting challenges against others worldwide. The update will also include the next evolution of Gran Turismo Sophy, Sony and Polyphony Digital’s AI racing agent, along with a new Power Pack difficulty level for advanced players. The October update will introduce several features outside the regular races. Vintage will feature cars that are no longer available for purchase, while Car Concierge will let players order Used and Legend cars. Another addition, Experience, will offer brand-specific driving challenges. Car Viewer will let players view the cars stored in their garage, while the Collector Level cap will also be increased.
