Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said the Congress govt, led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, was committed to protecting and developing Telangana’s ancient temples.
Bhatti said the govt was making elaborate arrangements for the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams and had allocated ₹1,000 crore in the budget for related works. Of this, around ₹200 crore would be spent on developing Dharmapuri and Kotilingala in the Dharmapuri constituency, he added.
The ministers received a traditional Poorna Kumbha welcome from Vedic scholars and performed special prayers before participating in the foundation ceremony according to scriptural traditions. He said major temples and pilgrimage centres from Basara to Bhadrachalam would be developed with improved infrastructure for devotees. He participated in the Bhoomi Puja for the reconstruction of the Ugra Narasimha Swamy temple in Dharmapuri, along with social welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar and endowments commissioner Hanumantha Rao.
