Lucknow: A three-year-old girl was seriously injured after a leopard entered the courtyard of a house and attacked her in Pujari Purwa Juda village in Bahraich on Sunday evening, police said.
The incident took place around 7 pm when the child’s mother, Anita , was filling water from a tap in the courtyard. After searching for nearly 30 minutes, villagers found the injured girl in a field about 400 metres from her home. The girl was standing behind her when the leopard suddenly pounced on the child. The animal reportedly grabbed the girl and ran towards nearby fields. Shocked by the attack, Anita raised an alarm, prompting villagers to rush to the spot carrying sticks. As villagers chased the leopard, it abandoned the child in a field and fled.

She sustained deep injuries to her neck and other parts of the body. Family members initially took her to a health facility in Nanpara, from where doctors referred her to Lucknow for advanced treatment.
