Mysuru: The members of the Joint Action Committee comprising Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Dalita Sangharsha Samithi, Pariskarakaagi Naavu, Bhoomi Thaayi Horata Samithi and pro-Kannada and progressive organisations and other like-minded forums have urged the Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi to intervene to stop kambala during the Mysuru Dasara festival.

In an email, the committee members, including former MLA AT Ramaswamy, stated the state govt has adopted a dictatorial and unilateral policy in this regard which is detrimental to democracy. “The proposal to organise kambala, which draws massive crowds, has created deep resentment and anger among the people of Mysuru. “Austerity and judicious use of water should be its mantra.
