“To give effect to the announcement, the govt have decided to amend TN Payment of Salaries Act 1951 suitably,” said the CM in the statement of objects and reasons. The amendment follows CM’s recent announcement to provide a vehicle to every member of TN assembly to enable them to travel across their constituencies to discharge their duty effectively. CM’s announcement in the house was an outcome of a request from VCK legislator L E Jothimani, who requested govt to provide a car for first-time MLAs and those coming from humble backgrounds.
