New Delhi: A large crack in a paying guest (PG) accommodation building in Chirag Dilli has triggered safety concerns among residents, prompting around 50 students to vacate the premises as a precaution.

University officials said the displaced students had been provided temporary shelter at the two colleges until alternative accommodation is arranged. The safety and well-being of the students remain our foremost priority,” said Shaheed Bhagat Singh College principal Arun Attri. The area houses a sizeable population of students from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College and College of Vocational Studies (CVS), both affiliated with Delhi University . “The colleges have assured all necessary support to the affected students during this difficult period. Videos circulating on social media show a large crack running across multiple floors of the building, particularly along the inner shaft. Portions of the roof also appear to have begun crumbling, raising concerns about the structure’s safety. The incident comes days after a building collapse in the capital that claimed several lives and displaced residents in the surrounding area. Students were evacuated from the Chirag Dilli accommodation as a precautionary measure, with the colleges stepping in to provide temporary shelter and support pending alternative housing arrangements.
