The two injured persons were identified as Santosh Jaiswal (28) and Rohit Jaiswal (25). The incident comes two weeks after a nearly two-tonne, 27ft-tall idol of Bhuleshwar Cha Raja toppled during its arrival ceremony on Aug 22, crushing two members of the Ganesh mandal to death.
Vinoba Bhave Nagar police said the idol belonging to Om Shakti Mitra Mandal from Dharavi suffered the mishap. Congress corporator Ashraf Azmi said the idol was being transported to Dharavi from a workshop in Ghatkopar when the incident occurred near Sheetal Talkies. Following the incident, mandal authorities immersed the idol in Sheetal Talao. Santosh was taken to Kurla Bhabha Hospital, while Rohit was led to Habib Hospital. Both received treatment and were subsequently discharged. Both men received minor injuries on the head and were discharged after treatment.
