Gandhinagar: Ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027, Ahmedabad will offer a glimpse of Gujarat’s culture, architecture and heritage through the Bhadra Festival and Water Heritage show series to be hosted by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The Bhadra Festival will be held on Nov 15 across Bhadra Fort, Premabhai Hall zone, Bhadra Square and Teen Darwaza, while the Water Heritage Series will be organised on Nov 25 at three historic stepwells — Jethabhai ni Vav, Amrit Varshini ni Vav and Dada Harir ni Vav.
The events will encourage residents and visitors to experience the city’s historic monuments as vibrant public spaces rather than merely as heritage structures, officials said. Officials said prominent artists have been invited for the programmes. The events will have music, performing and visual arts, exhibitions, architectural interpretation and public engagement and will celebrate Ahmedabad’s identity as India’s first Unesco World Heritage City. Bhadra Festival will feature projection mapping and illumination, photography displays, a Nagara ensemble and a processional performance. A Bhavai performance and a curated music concert will also be part of the programme. Music, literature, public interpretation and lighting will be used to highlight the architectural, cultural and historical significance of the three monuments. These include Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Ustad Shujaat Khan, Jayateerth Mevundi, Saskia Rao-de Haas, Dilshad Khan and Himali Vyas Nayak.
