Ahmedabad : The admission process for the Primary Teachers Certificate (PTC) course in Gujarat has been delayed despite the publication of the provisional merit list, leaving more than 61,000 students awaiting college allotment. The department has already completed registration and published the provisional merit list, which includes 61,536 eligible candidates. This year, 247 colleges applied to take part in admissions, but 18 were found to have deficiencies and were directed by the department to address them.
Sources said the delay is primarily due to pending approval of colleges participating in the admission process. Govt has not yet announced how many institutions will ultimately be permitted to participate. The delay has sparked concerns that students may lose valuable academic time, as admissions that are usually completed during June and July have yet to begin. The PTC conducted the admission process through a centralised registration system for students who completed Class XII.
Last year, too, admissions were delayed after some college managements moved court over related issues.
