Photos from the scene show a huge crater where the driveway of the 4,000-square-foot beachfront property once stood. A public information officer told the outlet that the massive hole, believed to have been caused by coastal erosion, measures around 30 feet by 30 feet. Sections of asphalt and concrete appear to have cracked and fallen into the hole, while debris, parts of a privacy fence and a portable toilet were also swallowed by the collapse. Large chunks of concrete could be seen inside the crater. Gas company workers were also at the property working to restore the damaged gas main. The local outlet also noted that no one appeared to be home when the driveway gave way. Workers wearing orange safety vests could be seen assessing the damage, while a firetruck was photographed near the residence with a yellow hose extended from the vehicle.

Realtor’s earlier report on the property described it as a contemporary 4,000-square-foot home with a rare rooftop deck overlooking the Pacific. Cage, 62, is known for films including Face/Off, Con Air, Gone in 60 Seconds, National Treasure and Moonstruck. He married his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, in 2021.

The four-level residence features floor-to-ceiling glass, multiple ocean-facing terraces and direct beach frontage. The house was originally built in the 1990s by the late Jose Liberman of Liberman Broadcasting and remained in the Liberman family for years before Cage acquired it. it was not immediately clear whether the main structure of Cage’s home had sustained any structural damage While the driveway and surrounding property have suffered substantial damage. The dramatic incident occurred after a day of heavy rain in the Los Angeles area, with high surf affecting the Southern California coast following the development of Hurricane Marie.
