Mysuru: More than three weeks after the death of three individuals in Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, a court in Kollegala granted anticipatory bail to three forest personnel who are accused of killing the villagers.
In the killing case that took place in the early hours of Aug 15, Antonyswamy, David Kumar and John Rose Peter were killed in Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary. Following the incident, the family members of the deceased had filed a complaint claiming their relatives had been murdered. Hanur police had taken up a murder case against unknown forest personnel. Govt has handed over the investigation to the CID . The families of the deceased claim, quoting Mahimadas, who survived the incident, that they had gone into the forest to search for a missing cow and were shot dead while they were asleep. Lourdes Mary, wife of the deceased Antonyswamy, filed a complaint at Hanur police station.
The forest personnel have to appear before the jurisdictional police every Saturday until a chargesheet is filed.
The I Additional District and Sessions Court, Kollegala, granted bail to beat forester Shivaraja Sasalavada, forester Shivalinga Nayaka and watcher Girisha and directed them to appear before the investigation officer within 25 days from the date of the order, which was passed on Tuesday.
