Pune: A 28-year-old land dealer, Sagar Palve from Bhor taluka, was hacked with sharp weapons and shot dead by a gang of five men in Rajne village near Khed Shivapur, about 29km from Pune, in the early hours of Sunday. Palve’s cousin, Anil Navghane (25), a resident of Bhor taluka, lodged a complaint with the Rajgad police. “They left the eatery around 2.30am.
The reason behind the brutal murder is yet to be ascertained, Rajgad police said. Rajgad assistant police inspector Chetan Machale said Palve, Navghane and three friends had gathered at an eatery at Arvi Phata near Khed Shivapur in the early hours of Sunday. Palve alerted the complainant and told him to run away,” Machale said.
When Palve headed towards his car, five men blocked his way. One of them fired a round at Palve.

The officer said Navghane and the others returned to the eatery, where they saw the accused hacking Palve with sharp weapons and firing rounds at him. He was taken to a private hospital at Khed Shivapur, where doctors declared him dead,” the officer said. Machale said the complainant had identified one of the five assailants. “After arresting the accused, we will know the reason behind Palve’s murder,” he said.
