Kanpur: The health department on Wednesday sealed a private hospital in Kalyanpur and issued a notice after a 28-year-old woman died following childbirth amid allegations of negligence and transfer without a referral letter.
Because of which the woman’s postmortem was delayed, they also alleged that the hospital failed to provide a referral letter,.
Dr Ramit Rastogi, nodal doctor for nursing homes, said the hospital had been sealed over alleged negligence in the woman’s treatment. He said strict action would follow an investigation into the conduct of the hospital’s doctor and management. She gave birth through a surgery that afternoon. However, her condition deteriorated by the evening, after the hospital allegedly transferred her to Shivaji Hospital in Barra without a referral letter. The deceased’s nephew, Ajit Yadav, informed police that the hospital cited the lack of a ventilator and shifted her to another hospital. Family members alleged negligence on the part of the hospital authorities and vandalised the property. They alleged that the hospital neither had specialist doctors nor an ICU and that procedures were conducted by staff members.
The deceased, Sangeeta Yadav, was admitted to Star City Hospital for delivery on Sunday morning, according to police. The woman’s condition did not improve and she died on Tuesday morning.
