Senior inspector Navnath Jagtap of the Vishrambaug police said, “We have identified the deceased as Prathamesh Deshmukh, a resident of Khasapuri village in Dharashiv district’s Paranda tehsil. “His relatives in Pune visited the police station and said he belonged to a financially poor family,” Jagtap said. The autopsy of his body was conducted at Sassoon General Hospital in afternoon, police said, adding that the exact cause of the death would be established after medical and forensic examinations. Police said Deshmukh’s roommates said he used to leave the flat in the morning and return late at night and hardly interacted with them.
We are checking all aspects and legal action will be taken accordingly. Deshmukh’s father died a few years ago, and his mother lives alone in Khasapuri. All his four sisters are married. Prashant Kapse, brother-in-law of Deshmukh, reached the spot after getting information about the incident.
Deshmukh’s roommates told police that he had returned to the flat around 11pm on Tuesday.
