BENGALURU: A 38-year-old-auto driver strangled his wife to death and later died by suicide inside their Vibhitipura residence under the jurisdiction of HAL police limits post Tuesday midnight. The deceased were identifed as M Raghavendra and Shruti R, 35. Hailing from Davanagere, the couple lived in city for around 15 years and Shruti worked as a maid.
Police investigations revealed that Rgahvendra had hit Shruti’s head with a beer bottle and then pressed the same against her neck, killing her. Their two children including a daughter are with Shruti’s parents in Davanagere. Then, using a sari of her, he hanged from the ceiling. The incident had come to light when neighbours peeped through the window after knocking on the door and receiving no response.

“According to neighbours, Raghavendra often fought with Shruti, suspecting her of infidelity. He alleged that Shruti spent more time on her mobile phone, chatting with others,” an investigating officer said. Download the TOI App.
