Man accused of killing daughters breaks down during crime-scene reconstruction in Bengaluru

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bengaluru: In a harrowing scene inside a room at a star hotel near Kempegowda International Airport, a father accused of strangling his two young daughters broke down, weeping uncontrollably and rolling on the floor during police reconstruction of the crime scene.

Imran spent nearly 20 minutes sobbing heavily, rolling on the floor, and lamenting the loss of his daughters, according to police. He wept, cried, and lamented for around 15–20 minutes, and we just watched him,” said a senior police officer handling the investigation. Imran stated that his marriage began deteriorating around 15 months ago after his wife got a new job.

Police confirmed he sometimes experiences mood swings. When investigators brought Imran back to the hotel room recently as part of the evidence-gathering process, he collapsed onto the ground. “We did not stop him or try to pacify him. We knew that he had to pour out his feelings. Under an informal arrangement, the children stayed with their mother on weekdays and visited Imran on weekends. Imran is in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison.

He alleged discovering WhatsApp conversations between her and a male colleague, which led to frequent domestic disputes and an eventual separation two months before the crime.

In his statement to the authorities, Imran offered a chilling justification: “I killed them because I loved them and was worried about their future.” Investigators had recovered a suicide note from the hotel room detailing allegations of infidelity, marital discord, and grief over the custody dispute.
