The conman claimed performing occult rituals would generate a ‘money shower’

“The three arrested suspects have been remanded in police custody for five days,” a police officer said. Nashik : Abhona police in Kalwan taluka have arrested a conman and two of his associates for duping a retired Mumbai resident and his friends of Rs11 lakh, under the false promise of performing occult rituals to generate a ‘money shower’ of currency valued at Rs15 crore. Realising they were being cheated, the victims approached the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS).
Due to a family death, Shelar could not perform the rituals, whereupon Barde claimed the money had become impure and demanded more funds. The primary suspect, identified as Hirachand Barde, also known as Baba, along with his brother Ramchandra Barde and associate Ravindra Pawar, were taken into custody following an official complaint registered in the early hours of Thursday.
