The game’s developer, Bulkhead, has confirmed that the tactical 100-player FPS will also come to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in 2028. If you’ve not heard of Wardogs yet, the game is built around 100-player battles in which three rival teams fight for control of the battlefield. Wardogs is also not coming to Xbox One or PlayStation 4, so the console release will be limited to current-gen hardware. The developer has not confirmed whether the 2028 launch will coincide with the game’s version 1.0 release. Wardogs is built around 100-player matches, with players divided between three teams competing for control of a central zone. several details about the console versions remain unannounced While Bulkhead has confirmed that Wardogs is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The console versions are planned for 2028 for now, with more info coming as the game gets closer to launch.
The developer hasn’t announced a specific console launch date or window yet.
Ahead of the Early Access launch, the developer released a “Play Like You Used To” trailer confirming that Wardogs is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2028. The trailer is inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” trailer and centres on bringing back the social, unpredictable multiplayer experiences of older games. The developer describes the game as a tactical all-out warfare FPS where “teamwork pays and cash is king”. Despite only entering Early Access now, Wardogs has already sold one million copies on PC, according to Bulkhead. Joe Brammer, CEO at Bulkhead, said: “To cross a million copies sold as we launch into Early Access is mental. He said, “This is still Early Access,” with “things we want to improve and a lot more we want to build. “The best thing players can do now is keep playing, keep telling us what they think and keep giving us those ridiculous Wardogs moments,” he added.
Wardogs is now live on Steam Early Access. It combines tactical gunplay with vehicles, construction, and destruction, while a cash-based economy encourages players to work together. The developer is also leaning into local voice chat, allowing players across all three teams to hear each other during matches. The console announcement comes as Wardogs begins its Early Access journey on PC, giving Xbox and PlayStation players a preview of what to expect when the game eventually arrives on consoles. The Xbox and PlayStation store pages are already live, so players can add Wardogs to their wishlists and receive updates about the console release. Since the game is only entering Early Access on PC now, it may be some time before console versions arrive. Battles take place across three maps, each with three variations, and players can use vehicles while constructing and destroying parts of the environment. The game is set in the derelict industrial mountains of Eastern Europe. The destructible environments are meant to let battles change as players attack positions, create new routes, and destroy cover. The three-team format also gives Wardogs a different setup from a traditional two-sided multiplayer shooter. Players have to contend with two opposing teams rather than one, while local voice chat lets allies and enemies talk during a match. The figure follows closed beta tests and attention from gaming creators on YouTube. We’ve spent the last few months showing people exactly what WARDOGS is, what it isn’t, and at one point literally gave everyone ten reasons not to buy it. We didn’t want people buying into blind hype. So seeing more than one million people choose to jump in and play the game at Early Access launch means a huge amount to all of us. Brammer also acknowledged that the game is still being developed. That means the Early Access price is lower than what players can expect to pay later, although the developer has not provided a final price for the full release. The pricing strategy also lets players jump in while the game is still in development, with feedback from the Early Access community expected to shape future updates. It is still unclear whether the game will support crossplay between PC, Xbox and PlayStation. The developer has also not explained whether the console versions will launch with the same features and content available on PC at that point. For now, PC players can get their hands on Wardogs via Steam Early Access, but Xbox and PlayStation players will have to wait a little longer. Get the latest technology news and updates.
