Man arrested for wife’s murder

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in Lucknow for the alleged murder of his wife following a domestic dispute. The post-mortem examination revealed that the victim sustained seven injuries before her death, which was confirmed to be caused by asphyxiation due to strangulation. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He said that on Sept 8, his son-in-law informed him that his wife had died. Based on the complaint, Talkatora police lodged an FIR under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched a detailed probe. The post-mortem report revealed seven ante-mortem injuries on the body and concluded that she died due to asphyxiation resulting from ante-mortem strangulation, ruling out claims of a natural or sudden death.

The couple were married nearly nine years ago, according to police. The victim’s father, a resident of Unnao, alleged that his daughter was being physically abused by her husband for the past two years. However, when police reached the house and examined the body, they noticed multiple injury marks, raising suspicion over the circumstances of her death.

The accused was arrested by Talkatora police near Alamnagar railway station on Wednesday following a tip-off.
