A 40-year-old man allegedly killed his two minor daughters before attempting suicide at a five-star hotel.

The 40-year-old manager at a local cab company broke down during a recent police reconstruction of the crime inside the hotel room, weeping uncontrollably and rolling on the floor for nearly 20 minutes as he lamented the deaths of Shaik Zoya, 10, and Shaik Zehara, 5. He wept, cried, and lamented for around 15–20 minutes, and we just watched him,” said a senior police officer handling the investigation. Imran said his marriage began deteriorating around 15 months ago after his wife got a new job, according to police.

During the reconstruction, police said Imran collapsed to the floor and continued sobbing. Police said Imran sometimes experiences mood swings. “We did not stop him or try to pacify him. We knew that he had to pour out his feelings. Under an informal arrangement, the children stayed with their mother on weekdays and visited Imran on weekends. Police also recovered a suicide note from the hotel room in which Imran allegedly wrote about his wife’s alleged infidelity, marital discord and the custody dispute. He is currently in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison.

He alleged that he discovered WhatsApp conversations between her and a male colleague, leading to frequent domestic disputes and eventually their separation two months before the killings.
