CM Punk lost the WWE title to Sami Zayn
CM Punk walked into the September 11 episode of SmackDown in Mexico City to defend his Undisputed WWE title against Sami Zayn. However, as the dust settled, it was Zayn who left with the title, ending Punk’s reign at 67 days. 67 day undisputed title run. At 47.
Punk wrote: “I lost. Despite a crushing defeat that shocked many, the Second City Saint sent out a motivating message right after. Taking to his Instagram stories, CM Punk dropped a photo of himself from the gym. The Best in the World reflected on his loss on SmackDown, yet remained positive and wrote a motivating message for his fans. In the end, Punk concluded by saying that he will not stay down, will continue to wrestle for fans, and will regain his Undisputed WWE title. I’d like to say I did it on purpose for my boy (Je’Von Evans) but nobody wants to lose. Here’s the thing: Winners lose way more than losers do. I don’t have to try again. I get to try again. I didn’t have to come to Mexico. I don’t HAVE to do house shows. I get to. I get to wrestle in front of the best fans in the world in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City. The Last Real Good Guy finally got his chance against CM Punk in the main event of SmackDown in Mexico City this week. Both superstars delivered a captivating bout. In the closing moments, it turned chaotic following interference from Kevin Owens and Johnny Gargano.
