Bike-borne miscreants rob woman of gold chain in Bengaluru

Bengaluru : A morning walk to work turned into an ordeal for a 25-year-old woman in Nayandahalli in west Bengaluru after two bike-borne miscreants snatched and fled with her gold mangalya chain, worth over Rs 7.5 lakh, Wednesday.

The victim, Shivaranjini, works at a fuel station along the Metro Layout railway underpass road. Around 8am, two miscreants on a black motorcycle approached her from behind. The pillion rider, wearing a red jacket, put his hand on her chest and tried to yank away her two-strand gold mangalya chain weighing around 55g. She held onto it tightly. But the miscreant managed to pull it away and ride on with his accomplice.

A case has been registered under BNS section 309 ( robbery ). She told police neither suspect was wearing a helmet and she could identify them if seen again. She immediately raised an alarm and ran behind the motorcycle. Passersby alerted police.
