With Maharashtra Group-C Services Combined Preliminary Examination postponed till Jan, Pawar demanded recruitment notifications for 30,000 to 40,000 posts before then. He also called for a uniform examination fee of Rs 100 for all recruitment tests conducted during the year. Pawar said a future change in govt could lead to a decision on the demand, adding that a private member’s bill would be introduced on the issue. “Self-respecting class operators and students rejected the pressure and turned up in large numbers, showing strong student unity,” he said. He said repeated leaks had eroded students’ faith in the examination system. Pawar said, “The agitation will continue till both stepped down and officials with clean records are appointed. Pawar said students who met the chief minister two days ago should meet other aspirants and openly discuss all their demands, including the resignation of the MPSC chairperson and secretary, before deciding their next course of action. “Whatever stand the students take, I will extend my full support,” he said. Speaking at the Students First programme at Jaykranti College, Pawar said anger over paper leaks was widespread and that students were also opposing online examinations. He said students had demanded NEET examination be conducted at the state level instead of its current format.
Pawar first visited Khasapuri village in Dharashiv to console the family of MPSC aspirant Prathamesh Deshmukh. He then travelled to Latur and joined an agitation led by MPSC aspirants, where he interacted with students at Jaykranti College. Addressing protesters, Pawar alleged that govt tried to weaken the agitation by exerting pressure on coaching institutes. Pawar reiterated allegations that individuals close to govt were involved in paper leak cases and accused authorities of shielding those responsible. The resignation of the MPSC chairperson and secretary remained the protesters’ key demand. Download the TOI App.
