Lucknow : Panic gripped residents in Barabanki’s Loni Katra area on Sunday after a man’s body, believed to be that of a 45-year-old, was found inside a Hyundai i20 car parked by the roadside near Sharda Sahayak Canal.

They reported seeing a man lying motionless inside the vehicle and immediately informed the police.

Locals said the car had been stationary at the same spot since Saturday evening. The body was recovered from inside the vehicle, and officials said a preliminary inspection of the scene was conducted and initial evidence was collected. Police said the deceased has been tentatively identified as a resident of Lucknow, and family members have been notified.

A Loni Katra police team reached the location, secured the area and took the car into custody. When it remained unmoved for hours on Sunday and no one was seen around it, residents grew suspicious and went closer to check.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and will be confirmed after a post-mortem examination.
