Kolkata: Alipore and Behala Chanditala in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) area and Baje Shibpur Road in Howrah have won accolades for best practices in different categories at the newly introduced ward-level performances assessment in the Centre’s “Swachh Vayu Survekshan” 2026 under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).

Who posted the list of best practises categories on social media on Monday, Alipore of KMC ward 74 has come first in category 1, for best practices in outstanding road dust management, driven by effective end-to-end paving of roads, according to state urban development & municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul. Chanditala, Behala, of KMC ward 116 ranked first in category 2, for exceptional solid waste management, notably its efficient door-to-door garbage collection system. Baje Shibpur Road in Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) ward 32 topped category 3, for road dust management (end-to-end pavement & pothole repairing).

“Congratulations KMC for such incredible work and getting the award for ‘Best Practices’ category,” the minister posted on social media.
