Lucknow: S arojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh on Monday welcomed the Uttar Pradesh govt’s decision to extend ₹5 lakh cashless medical insurance to advocates across the state and thanked chief minister Yogi Adityanath for the initiative. Singh said he had written to the CM on April 2, seeking comprehensive insurance coverage for advocates and their families, including life, health and accident insurance to protect households from hardship caused by illness, accidents and emergencies. Singh also inaugurated a ₹10 lakh CSR-funded room at Sarojininagar Tehsil Bar Association, fitted with a TV and Wi-Fi for young lawyers to watch live Supreme Court proceedings.

Singh said advocates are a key pillar of the justice system, safeguarding citizens’ rights, enabling access to justice and strengthening the rule of law. Calling the cashless facility a major social-security measure for the legal fraternity, he said it reflected the state govt’s commitment to advocates’ welfare.
