Worker dies after arm torn off in conveyor belt

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

A tragic incident occurred on Monday at a private foundry in the MIDC Hingna area of Nagpur, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old worker. The worker’s arm became trapped in a conveyor belt, leading to severe injuries that ultimately resulted in the loss of the limb. Emergency services responded to the scene, but the injuries were fatal.

The accident took place around 8.30am. Rohit Choube, a resident of Isasani, was working on a platform near a melting furnace when his arm got caught in the conveyor belt attached to a crane and was severed from the shoulder.

Fellow workers stopped the crane and rushed Choube with the severed arm to a hospital at Digdoh. Doctors found his condition critical and referred him to a govt medical hospital in Nagpur where he was declared dead on arrival. He is survived by his wife and a four-month-old child. Choube earlier worked as a plumber’s assistant at other sites.
