Serious irregularities occurred in purchase of medical material, machinery, turnkey projects, written-off material and other services in the last two-and-a-half years, according to the protesters. “Purchases and works beyond authorised financial powers were executed at institute level, causing extra burden on the state exchequer, and purchases of similar nature were deliberately split into separate orders to bypass financial limits,” another ex-member of Board of Visitors, Iqbal Singh Gill, said. “To ensure a free, fair and uninfluenced probe, we demand immediate removal of additional charge of dean from Dr Sukre as per General Administration Department GR dated Sept 5, 2018, and handing over of charge to a competent and honest officer,” Shinde said.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Allegations of massive financial irregularities involving the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and its allied institutions have been made by health activists, prompting a demand for a special audit. It is alleged that material was purchased at rates up to ten times higher than market rates, indicating corruption worth crores of rupees.
“Despite submitting complaints with documentary proof earlier, no concrete action was taken and mystery shrouds most of the questionable transactions.
“My office will seek necessary details within the next 24-hours.
When contacted, minister for medical education and NCP leader Hasan Mushrif said he would seek all information into charges levelled by health activists. I will also look into pending inquiries, if any, against the current dean,” he said.
