Prayagraj : Allahabad University is drawing a growing share of students from outside Uttar Pradesh , with more than 900 students from 26 states securing admission to its undergraduate programmes this academic session. Around 3,700 students have taken admission against nearly 3,800 UG seats, meaning students from other states account for almost one-fourth of the total intake. Bihar has emerged as the biggest contributor, with 374 students joining the university’s undergraduate programmes. Madhya Pradesh follows with 182 students, while 99 students are from Jharkhand, 49 from Chhattisgarh and 44 from Rajasthan. West Bengal and Odisha have contributed 29 and 23 students respectively. The university has also attracted students from Haryana (19), Assam and Uttarakhand (12 each) and Delhi (11). Admissions have been completed in 19 undergraduate courses on the university campus.

Six students each have joined from Gujarat, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, while Punjab and Arunachal Pradesh have contributed seven and four students respectively. Students from Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Mizoram, Kerala, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Karnataka have also enrolled in UG programmes.
