He, however, declined to elaborate on the proposed Mumbai agitation by Maratha reservation spearhead Manoj Jarange, saying chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had already clarified govt’s position on the issue. Nagpur: Maharashtra revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Tuesday said a Uniform Civil Code is necessary in India to ensure equal rights for every citizen.
Bawankule also appealed to political parties and citizens to avoid agitations during the 10-day Ganeshotsav and instead work together for Maharashtra’s development. Bawankule said 18 districts were facing such drought-like conditions, although rainfall had resumed in some areas with the arrival of Ganeshotsav.
He said the festival should be a period of unity and collective resolve. He expressed hope that further rain would ease the situation in areas that had received inadequate rainfall.
Government Orders New Surveys Amid Registration Issues in Nagpur
The administration has announced the initiation of fresh surveys in regions that have experienced significant rainfall, focusing particularly on 18 districts. This data will be presented to the state cabinet for further evaluation. Additionally, a comprehensive statewide survey has been ordered.
In related developments, concerns have been raised regarding the stalled registration of certain flats in Nagpur. Minister Bawankule highlighted that some builders sold flats without securing occupancy certificates. This has hindered buyers from completing their registration, as the necessary documentation is not available under current registration laws.
The Kamptee MLA said 107 cabinet decisions had been taken in Revenue Department under CM Fadnavis.
The decisions, he said, were aimed at protecting the property and rights of farmers, farm workers and ordinary citizens. He also praised officials and employees of the department for their work.
