Ahmedabad: Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) on Tuesday seized 10,536 cans of beer, which is classified under IMFL, from a closed-body truck on SP Ring Road near Vaishnodevi Circle. The beer, packed in 439 boxes, was valued at Rs 23 lakh. No arrests were made.

The seized beer and truck were valued at a total of Rs 38 lakh, with the truck estimated to be worth Rs 15 lakh.

A PCB team intercepted the truck near the underbridge opposite KD Hospital, which falls within Sola police station limits, according to police. Police also recovered three goods receipts, photocopies of the vehicle’s RTO documents, a black plastic sheet and four broken pieces of a yellow seal. Police are trying to identify the person who allegedly sent the consignment and the person who was supposed to receive it. The truck owner is also under investigation. Sola police have initiated proceedings under the prohibition law against the unidentified accused and the truck owner.

The truck driver fled before the PCB team could nab him.
