Spotify has launched a new global setting that enables users to filter out kids’ and family music from their personalized recommendations. This update, which became available to both Free and Premium users on September 15, 2026, aims to enhance the accuracy of playlists like Discover Weekly, Daily Mix, and Wrapped. By excluding children’s songs and family soundtracks, Spotify ensures that these playlists more accurately reflect the individual listener’s musical preferences.
New Feature Enhances Listening Experience for Families
A recently confirmed feature allows parents to play nursery rhymes, animated movie soundtracks, and family TV themes without affecting their personal listening insights. This update ensures that family-friendly content does not skew individual music preferences and recommendations, maintaining the accuracy of personal listening data.
Spotify notes that changes may take up to 48 hours to reflect in recommendations. * Toggle Off: Navigate to Settings → Content and display and switch off “Include kids and family music in taste profile.” By default, kids’ and family music streams are included in a user’s taste profile. With the new toggle, users can go to Settings → Content and display and switch off “Include kids and family music in taste profile. Once disabled, past streams of children’s music will no longer count toward Wrapped or top artist/song rankings.
