Police identified the deceased as S Karthik Kumar, 35, his father, K Selvaraj, 60, and his mother, S Gandhimathi, 55. NAMAKKAL: Three members of a family died on the spot and four others suffered injuries when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a car at Nallipalayam in Namakkal district in the early hours of Wednesday. The accident happened on the Salem–Karur National Highway when Karthik Kumar, who was working in Bengaluru, was travelling to his hometown for a family function with his parents. Karthik was driving the car.
M Yathu Nandan, 19, R Sivakumar,32, and Sivakumar’s wife, Gowthami,30, were also travelling in the SUV. Gowda was returning to Bengaluru after a pilgrimage to Tiruchendur temple. All four suffered injuries. They were taken to Namakkal Government Medical College and Hospital where Gowda remained unconscious and under intensive treatment. Later, the others were shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru.
