Kochi : The high court has expressed its displeasure over the delay on the part of the Kochi corporation in filing an action-taken report on the rectification of road surface protrusions and uneven portions around metro pillars on city roads.
A bench of Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice V M Syam Kumar directed the Kochi corporation to file the report on or before Sept 18 and adjourned the matter to that date. During the hearing on Wednesday, advocate general K Jaju Babu appeared on behalf of the state govt and submitted that Rs 10 crore had been provided for rectification of the road surface. Accordingly, the bench expressed its dissatisfaction over the delay in filing the report and adjourned the matter to Sept 18 for submission of the report.
The court was considering a PIL filed by Pauly Vadakkan from Kadavanthra, Kochi, seeking a directive to the authorities to address dangerous road surface irregularities that have developed around the Metro pillars.
However, counsel for the Kochi corporation sought a short adjournment till next Friday to submit an action-taken report in compliance with the court’s earlier directive.
