Kochi: Two men were arrested with 25.36g of MDMA during a drug raid in Njarackal on Wednesday.
The arrested are Jithin, 26, of Elamkunnapuzha, and Salih, 32, of Nayarambalam. Based on a tip-off received by district police chief K S Sudarshan, the police searched the suspects’ house and recovered 15g of MDMA from Jithin’s house and 10.36g from Salih’s house. Man arrested for theft at MLA’s house: A 24-year-old man from West Bengal was arrested within hours of allegedly stealing wiring cables worth around Rs 50,000 from the under construction house of Muvattupuzha MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan.
The accused had been released from jail around one-and-a-half months ago after serving a sentence in a case registered by Muvattupuzha police.
The accused had brought the drugs from Bengaluru for sale in the beach areas of Vypeen and Cherai, according to the police. Police said the two had been under surveillance for some time. They were arrested by the rural district Dansaf team, a special investigation team led by Munambam DSP and Njarackal police. The drugs were allegedly concealed among clothes. The arrested is Bishnu Mondal of Murshidabad. He was taken into custody from Kochangadi area of Muvattupuzha.
The investigation team led by Kalloorkkad circle inspector Cibi Thomas identified the accused after scientifically examining footage from more than 25 cameras in Pothanikkad and the bus stand area.
