New Delhi: The final day of campaigning for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections was marred by alleged violence at several locations Wednesday.
Another clash was reported at Sri Aurobindo College, while altercations were reported from other colleges as well. Delhi Police said no complaint was received till Wednesday evening. At North Campus, a clash broke out outside Law Centre-I, with ABVP alleging that three of its members were injured in a brawl following an argument over the removal of its campaign banners. It claimed two members suffered head injuries and another sustained a fracture in his hand. Videos circulating on social media showed groups of students exchanging blows outside Law Faculty. One showed a student bleeding from his head and a deep head wound being stitched. Window panes of several cars were seen smashed. The videos could not independently establish how the clash began. ABVP Delhi unit secretary Sarthak Sharma alleged that workers associated with IYC, NSUI and SCS were behind the attack. NSUI rejected the allegation, saying neither it nor its affiliated organisations had any role in it. SCS could not be contacted. In South Campus, campaigners clashed with faculty members at Motilal Nehru College while trying to enter the premises, claimed faculty members, adding several teachers were injured. NSUI alleged that ABVP-linked workers attacked one of its tribal student workers outside the college. ABVP denied the allegations. Download the TOI App.
