Mysuru : Dasara Sports Subcommittee of the department of youth empowerment and sports (DYES) is making preparations for the smooth conduct of the state-level Dasara Sports Meet from Oct 11 to 14 at Chamundi Vihar stadium.
DYES has directed all taluk administrations to complete the district-level sports meet by Sept 18 and divisional-level sports meet that will be held in Bengaluru city, Bengaluru rural, Kalaburagi, Belagavi and Mysuru Division by Sept 30. About 2,500 to 3,000 sportspersons will take part in the state-level Dasara sports meet this year from across the state. Last year, the state govt permitted the conduct of 27 games and dropped karate, but this year karate is included, officials said. Assistant director of DYES Bhaskar Nayak said the department has been making all necessary preparations for the smooth conduct of the state-level Dasara Sports Meet that will be held at ten different venues, including Chamundi Vihar stadium, from Oct 11, besides accommodating them and arranging food for them.

During this year, the state-level Dasara Sports Meet will be held at ten different venues in Mysuru, including Chamundi Vihar Stadium and University of Mysore sports pavilion grounds, among other places. The first three winners from the taluk-level, district-level and divisional-level will be allowed to take part in the state-level Dasara Sports Meet. An athletic meet, including short-distance and long distance races, and field events, will be conducted this year. All types of swimming competitions, weightlifting and other events will also be held. Download the TOI App.
