Kanpur: Kanpur Nagar Nigam issued the death certificate of gangster Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the Bikru case, on Sept 11, about six years after he was killed in a police encounter. On July 2, 2020, a police team went to Bikru village in Chaubepur police station area to arrest Dubey. Its vehicles were blocked with a JCB, and gunmen opened fire from rooftops as personnel approached his house. Eight policemen, including a circle officer, were killed. UP police and Special Task Force subsequently killed six criminals linked to the case in encounters.
Discrepancy Delays Issuance of Death Certificate in Kanpur Case
On July 10, 2020, Dubey passed away in Kanpur. However, the issuance of his death certificate has been hindered due to an error in the official documentation. His father’s name was incorrectly recorded in both the panchnama, which is a report prepared by police during an investigation, and the cremation slip. Instead of the correct name, Ram Kumar Dubey, the records mistakenly listed him as Raj Kumar Dubey. This discrepancy has prevented the formal issuance of the death certificate.
