“But we studied the empty cartridge and found that it was very old and not freshly fired,” said senior inspector Smita Wasnik of Mundhwa police station. Police said one of the groups visited the riverfront area and later, the other group members accidentally visited the site. “The group members who reached the spot later have many serious crimes registered against their names,” Wasnik added.
Pune: Two groups of youngsters from Mundhwa clashed with each other in Keshavnagar during the night intervening between Tuesday and Wednesday this week, after which one group approached the police and claimed that a member of the other side had opened fire in the air during the ruckus. The Mundhwa police found a rusted empty cartridge of a bullet after scanning the clash site in the Mula-Mutha riverfront area. Police teams from the crime branch and police station reached the spot around 2am. They checked the entire area as well as CCTV footage from nearby. After examining the site for over four hours, police finally concluded that there had been no firing. The two groups of five to eight members each have a rivalry with each other. Police are registering a case in this regard.
Group members who had reached the site earlier thought that they would be attacked, which eventually led to a clash between the two.
