The British Council has opened applications for the 13th edition of the Study UK Alumni Awards, inviting UK-educated alumni across the world to share stories of work and impact spanning business, creativity, social change, science and sustainability.
Following national selections, 28 alumni from around the world will be shortlisted as global finalists, with four global winners to be chosen by an international judging panel. Applications for the Study UK Alumni Awards 2027 are open until October 15, 2026 . India’s finalists will be announced in January 2027, while the global winners are scheduled to be announced in August 2027 and featured as part of a digital campaign highlighting their journeys and achievements. The 2026 edition attracted more than 1,800 applications from over 120 countries. In India, the national awards ceremony in Bengaluru in March 2026 brought together finalists and winners from professional and creative fields.
Rittika Chanda Parruck MBE, Director of Education India, British Council, said, “The journey with Study UK does not end when a student completes their education in the UK. The awards recognise alumni who are using their education and experiences in the UK to drive new ideas, build businesses, contribute to their communities and tackle wider challenges. Entries are being accepted across four categories — Science and Sustainability; Culture, Creativity and Sport; Social Action; and Business and Innovation. The awards offer recognition at both national and global levels. For alumni, the programme also offers an opportunity to take their work to a wider audience and connect with an international network of fellow UK graduates. Global winners will receive international visibility, professional networking opportunities and a dedicated networking visit to the UK. In India, finalists will be recognised at a national awards ceremony. The event was attended by Dr M.C. Sudhakar, Higher Education Minister, Government of Karnataka, along with senior representatives of the British Council and UK Government. For many, it marks the beginning of new collaborations, ideas and relationships that continue to grow across borders. She added, “India’s UK alumni community is a reflection of this enduring connection, with individuals using their experiences to open new doors for themselves and for others. The Alumni Awards celebrate that journey by bringing these stories to the forefront and recognising the breadth of talent and contribution within this community. The awards also aim to help winners build their international profile through media and digital coverage, expand professional and business networks and participate in an exclusive professional networking visit to the UK.
