New Delhi: An employee with a multinational company in Gurgaon was allegedly honey-trapped by a couple in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai last month, before being kidnapped, assaulted and extorted. He was later rescued from Mathura, and six people have been arrested in connection with the case.
The case was registered at Maidan Garhi police station on Aug 22 following a missing-person complaint. Police said the victim was taken across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in his own SUV before being traced to Mathura on Aug 23. His movements were reconstructed through technical surveillance and location analysis, leading officers to the vehicle near a five-star hotel in Mahipalpur on Aug 30. A 10-gram gold pendant, a 15-gram gold chain and clothes allegedly purchased using the victim’s credit card were also seized.
Jeetu and Indu were arrested at the spot. Further investigation and surveillance led police to four other alleged accomplices, who were arrested from Delhi and Palwal. Police also recovered the victim’s Tata Harrier, mobile phone, two credit cards, a debit card, PAN card, registration certificate and driving licence.
Two of the accused, Indu alias Lisa Sharma (20) and Jitender Yadav alias Jeetu (32), together operated an account in an online marketplace app where they contacted the victim, Pawandeep Joshi.
The victim was safe and the occupants tried to flee when the team approached, but officers pursued and intercepted the vehicle, said DCP Mittal.
