Excise made the arrest after the SIT raids revealed a cache of illegally stored liquor in Augustine’s Wayanad house. A Kerala Police special investigation team (SIT) raided the newsroom of Reporter TV, a prominent news channel on Wednesday amid high drama, as the channel telecast the police raid in the newsroom. Even as the raids, which were also held simultaneously at four other locations, kicked up a political storm in the state, the excise department registered a separate FIR and arrested the managing editor, Anto Augustine, from the channel’s head office in Kochi on Thursday early morning. The SIT carried out raids on Wednesday morning after registering an FIR on Tuesday at Kalamassery police station naming Augustine and Reporter Broadcasting Company Pvt Ltd, which is behind Reporter TV, as accused.
