Mumbai: A 40-year-old labourer fell to his death from the third floor of a housing society in Borivli, where he was hired to remove moss and overgrown plants from the external facade of the building. Based on a complaint given by the wife of the deceased, MHB Colony Police registered an FIR against three people besides the office-bearers of the society for negligence.
Munja Fulpagare, the deceased, lived in the Ganpat Patil Nagar slum on Borivli Link Road with his wife and her two children from her previous marriage. They took him to a housing society in Borivali on New Link Road, where the security guard, Parmeshwar Yadav, and office-bearers of the society asked Fulpagare to remove moss from the external facade of the building. Bhadad and Ingle took Fulpagare to the terrace and were carrying a wooden platform suspended with ropes. Fulpagare was not provided with any safety belts, nor was there a protection net put up by the society’s office-bearers.
The incident occurred on Thursday. Fulpagare was looking for work when two acquaintances, Satish Ingle and Kuldeep Bhadad, approached him on Thursday morning, according to the FIR.
Around 10.30 am, Fulpagare was seated on the platform and was removing moss and overgrown plants from the external facade of the building when he lost his balance and fell down.
