Pramod Devi and Brijpal, the parents of the accused man, have each received a two-year prison sentence. Additionally, they have been fined Rs 8,000 as part of the legal proceedings.
Additional district judge Kamaldeep also imposed a fine of Rs 24,000 on convict Sandeep Kumar . His farmer parents, Pramod Devi and Brijpal, were each sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 8,000. Mahendra Pal lodged an FIR at Dhampur police station on Aug 13, 2024, stating that his 25-year-old daughter, Chitra , had married Sandeep Kumar (then 27) of Kagpur village in Dhampur on Nov 25, 2023, govt counsels Anand Janghala and Mukul Kumar said. Police registered a case under BNS sections 103 (murder), 80 (dowry death) and 85 (cruelty by husband or relatives), arrested the accused and filed a charge sheet after an investigation.
Bijnor: A fast-track court in Bijnor sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his pregnant wife nearly two years ago over unfulfilled dowry demands. A post-mortem examination found that Chitra, who was pregnant, had been strangled to death. The court convicted the three accused on Thursday and pronounced the sentences after completing the trial.
On Aug 13, 2024, Chitra told her family that she would call later. Sandeep’s maternal cousin subsequently informed them that she had died after suffering an electric shock. When her family reached Kagpur, they found her body covered in blood, with deep head injuries and injury marks on her hands, legs and neck.
