Investigators said they uncovered the racket involving forged land records, fake 7/12 extracts and multiple sale agreements for the same property. Thirty-five buyers alleged they were collectively cheated of Rs 11.85 crore. Joining the dots, police arrested Rahul Nagnorao Gaikwad (38), the alleged mastermind and owner of the land, on Sept 13. Jakhaji alias Bandu Dhondji Pawade (43) was held the following day, while Amol Ashokrao Malegaonkar (42) was taken into custody on Sept 15.
