Mumbai: The BMC plans to appoint Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) to conduct an independent audit for the construction of a second-level cable-stayed flyover on Eastern Express Highway, which is part of phase 4 of Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR). The proposal for the Rs 6-crore third-party audit will come up in BMC’s standing committee next week. The cable-stayed flyover will be constructed on the existing flyover on Eastern Express Highway between the second level Nahur to Airoli toll plaza, which will be 1,330m long and includes 270m of approach roads (ramps). Phase 4 of GMLR also features elevated interchanges at Mulund and bypass roads to ensure smooth traffic flow.

In order to ensure that the work is done in a qualitative manner, it is necessary to conduct a more effective and efficient technical audit of the quality of these works by a third party, hence it plans to rope in VJTI for the task, according to the BMC. There is a mandatory span of 180m for the highway crossing and five lanes each way, and temporary diversions to ease congestion. Download the TOI App.
