Kochi : In yet another incident of rash behaviour from private bus crews, Kadavanthra Police registered an FIR on Friday after a scooter rider was knocked down by a bus near Elamkulam.
The man sustained injuries to his left wrist, both knees and feet in the accident. CCTV footage of the accident showed that the bus was chasing another bus, purportedly speeding and competing with it to get ahead. The man, who fell on the middle of the road, had a narrow escape as the back tyres of the bus didn’t go over him. The incident comes close on the heels of an incident involving a bus cleaner who threatened multiple commuters and attacked policemen who tried to arrest him. The police later invoked additional charges against the private bus employee after the city police came under severe criticism for not applying appropriate BNS provisions and for releasing him on station bail.
The victim has also alleged that the private bus crew didn’t provide him with proper medical care, and they abandoned him at hospital. The victim alleged that instead of taking him to any nearby hospitals, the bus crew took him to Tripunithura taluk hospital. He alleged that they made him get down at Kizhakkekotta and sent him to the hospital with a youth in an autorickshaw. The youth disappeared soon after they reached the hospital, Raveendran alleged.
