New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Friday opened its recently developed 13-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and medical equipment at Mata Gujri Hospital in Tilak Nagar.

The hospital received a daily OPD footfall of 1,600 and there had been a long demand for an NICU unit there, said MCD mayor Pravesh Wahi after inaugurating the facilities. “With the availability of a 13-bed NICU at the hospital, critically ill newborns will now be able to receive essential intensive care and monitoring within the hospital itself.

These facilities will help provide better healthcare services to patients,” said the mayor. In addition, modern medical equipment such as a colour Doppler ultrasound machine, C-Arm machine for orthopaedic surgeries, optical coherence tomography and phaco machine for the treatment of eye-related diseases have also been made available at the hospital. He added that a CT scan machine would also be installed at the hospital in the near future.
