New Delhi: Delhi Police may conduct a bone ossification test to estimate the age of a girl who was allegedly raped and murdered by four people in Outer Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Sept 11, officials said.
Police said investigators had difficulty identifying the deceased. A tattoo on her hand helped establish her identity, officials said. The girl had gone to meet a friend, according to police. The suspects told police they had been drinking. Police said they sexually assaulted the girl inside the tempo before stabbing her multiple times. The suspects said they killed her as they feared she would report the assault.
A ring-like object found in the vehicle provided police the lead that eventually led them to the accused. He allegedly called his friends too, following which they all boarded the tempo, driven by the brother of one of the minors.
The bone test is being considered as the victim’s family has not been able to provide documents to establish her age, police said.
